Vienna, Austria
Based in Vienna, Austria, the Propeller Z architecture practice takes on residential, commercial, industrial, and urban projects, all influenced by a predilection for minimalism and geometric shapes. The three partners, Philipp Tschofen, Carmen Wiederin, and Korkut Akkalay, work together to develop conceptual architecture within the constraints of functional requirements. Conceptually, therefore, their method deals with processes that precede the design and result from the design. This approach affects both the way they work as a team with often changing configurations and the design decisions taken amidst an array of formal possibilities. The studio approaches interdisciplinary and international projects with ease, as each individual member is proficient in balancing specialization and generalization, as well as personal creativity and group identity.
