John Wardle Architects

Celebrated architect John Wardle established his own practice in Melbourne in 1986. Since then, John Wardle Architects has become a world-renowned firm, with offices in Melbourne and Sydney, and a team of 90 design professionals. Working in Australia and around the world, the studio’s projects range from residential and commercial buildings to urban design and interior design. All of the firm’s projects have a strong connection to their surroundings and cultural context. The studio also uses materials as a tool to tell a story about the local setting and to give a special character to interiors. Natural materials and handcrafted objects highlight the importance of the small details. Likewise, by integrating contemporary art into interiors, the firm enriches living spaces further. JWA has received many awards, including a RIBA Award for International Excellence, National AIA Awards for Interior Architecture and Educational Architecture, and two Sir Zelman Cowen Awards.
