Janet Delaney is a photographer and educator based in Berkeley, California.
Janet’s projects have received numerous awards, most notably three National Endowment for the Arts Grants. Her work is in the collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Pilara Foundation, the de Young Museum, San Francisco, The Alameda Art Commission, Oakland, the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas, the Musée de la Charleroi in Charleroi, Belgium, Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro, and the Bancroft Library at the University of California, Berkeley. Delaney has shown her photographs nationally and internationally in solo and group exhibitions. In 2011 she was invited to curate an exhibition of 100 contemporary American photographs in New Delhi, India. She published a book of her 1980s San Francisco images titled South of Market with Mack Books of London in 2013. From January to June of 2015 her early work from South of Market was exhibited in a one person exhibition at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Janet is now revisiting this district with camera in hand.
