A 19th-century palatial townhouse, restored to its former glory.
Located in Madrid‘s historic Barrio de Las Letras neighborhood, CoolRooms Atocha is a stylish boutique hotel that recently underwent a complete but thoughtful makeover. Architecture and interior design firm Proyecto Singular freshened up the entire hotel, bringing it back to its former palatial glory. The building dates back to 1852 and has a range of original features, which the studio restored tastefully. This is a charming boutique hotel Madrid Spain has to offer. It welcomes guests in 35 rooms spread across five floors. A central staircase takes the guests to their rooms, inviting them to admire the period moldings on the way. A skylight bathes the restored original staircase in natural light.
Design lovers can admire two styles: one is sophisticated with opulent details, while the other is more modern and understated. Navy and cream colors give the rooms a contemporary feel, complementing original period details at the same time. Art-deco style accents appear throughout the hotel, alongside murals, golden brass details, polished wooden floors, marble surfaces, and glamorous vintage features. Private terraces provide sweeping views of the city’s skyline.
Guests also have access to an interior courtyard and common lounge spaces. In the hotel’s garden, the large pool surrounded by greenery transforms into a dance floor at night. While close to the center of Madrid, CoolRooms Atocha hotel offers plenty of reasons to stay put with a Mediterranean-style restaurant and a cool bar area. Photographs© Fernando Alda.
