The Chubby Collection

A limited-edition series of contemporary stone furniture designed with bold, rounded forms.

New York-based, French multi-disciplinary designer Arthur Vallin always searches for the perfect balance between shapes, materials, and spaces to create his work. Keeping true to its name, the Chubby Collection features bold curves and rounded forms. The range of contemporary furniture looks sculptural as well as organic, almost defying its solid stone build with a series of arched shapes and softly rounded edges. Indeed, the collection doesn’t have any angular sections of sharp angles. Even the table and the console only have a flat surface on top. Both designs feature thinner tops that provide balance to the weighty bases.

Signed and numbered, the limited-edition collection is handmade in France. Each product comes in Navona travertine as standard, but the designer also offers the range in lava stone and in Pietra di Medici limestone. Regardless of different versions, the designs feature natural colors and textures. Smooth finishes highlight the features of the natural materials and reinforce the softness of the curved shapes. The Chubby Collection comprises the Chubby Stool, Chubby Chair, Chubby Table, and Chubby Console. Safe to say, they double as decorative pieces and functional objects. Plus, the simple rounded shapes of the chairs and stools transforms them into modular pieces. This allows the user to create different compositions either with only two products or with a complete set of chairs. Images© Arthur Vallin.
