Cast by Tom Fereday X Pitt & Giblin

A minimalist speaker that delivers excellent audio quality while also doubling as a design object.

Designed by Sydney– and London-based designer Tom Fereday, and made by Tasmanian audio brand Pitt & Giblin, Cast is a minimalist speaker that not only delivers quality sound, but also acts as a design object. The speaker features a triangular stand and a cubic cabinet, both made from marine-grade aluminum with a gorgeous texture. Safe to say, Cast looks great anywhere and adds an industrial accent to a room’s decor. As for audio, Pitt & Giblin has ingeniously built the speaker to provide excellent sound quality.

The four cast aluminum elements boast damping materials internally and feature a hot waxed finish. Made without external fixings or hardware, the speaker showcases the textures of the material and maintains the minimalist industrial look. A Hypex FusionAmp powers a 10’’ subwoofer, four 4’’ mid-range drivers and a high frequency unit loaded in a waveguide, while the titanium compression driver covers frequencies of below 20kHz. Minimalist to enhance any decor, the cubic form of the main cabinet also accentuates volume to ensure a rich bass sound.

While sold individually, Cast also allows users to connect several speakers in a multi-channel audio system of up to four linked units. Finally, the amplifier module allows for a range of both analog and digital inputs, from turntables to smartphones.

Launched during Melbourne Design Week, Cast made its debut in the Aver solo exhibition, held at independent commercial gallery Oigåll Projects. The speaker is now available to purchase from the Pitt & Giblin site. Photography by Annika Kafcaloudis.
