The Cane Broom Set

View all 8 Photos

A minimalist broom set that is as elegant as it is practical.

When you think about broom sets, the word “stylish” probably doesn’t spring to mind first, or even at all. Cane changes all that. It re-imagines the utilitarian, anonymous, and usually hidden items into a design that can truly take pride of place in your home. Created by Oslo-based design studio Gridy for furniture and home accessories brand Northern, the Cane broom set is as beautiful as it is convenient. It has a minimalist design and a graceful silhouette as well as an ingeniously simple broom and dustpan attachment system.

The dustpan acts as the base for this sculptural object and features a level front edge that remains in contact with the floor. Its tall handle curves at the top to meet the broom handle and create the curved shape. The studio added hidden magnets to the handles to ensure that the two elements combine perfectly. As separate items, they have a classic cane shape, which inspired the set’s name. Apart from giving Cane its distinctive look, the ergonomic handle design also makes it easier to use. Finally, the broom comes with sturdy bristles that can handle most types of debris and dust. Made from powder-coated steel, the Cane broom set will look great for a long time thanks to the durable finish. Plus, Northern offers this design in three versions: Black, Warm Beige, or Rust colors.
