2016 has been a busy and memorable year for Brooks England. The legendary brand has turned 150 and marked the occasion by collaborating with some of the best bike builders in the world on a special, limited edition series which was launched under the name of ‘Dashing Bikes’. Copper was a required element for all the designs, but the companies had creative reign to make some magic using their own bikes. We previously wrote about two collaborations: the pink version of the Mini Velo bike built by New York-based Tokyobike and the stylish Ludwig VIII built by Berlin-based Schindelhauer. Now Pelago Bicycles has released a limited edition version of their popular Stavanger bicycle, and just like the rest of the bikes from this special collection, it features striking copper details which are beautifully integrated in the design.
Based in Helsinki, Finland, Pelago creates minimalist and versatile bikes with a sustainable approach. Stavanger is built to offer urban commuters the perfect blend of function and style in a multipurpose bicycle that can handle everything from high-speed commuting to all-road riding or long-distance cycling. It is made from double butted 4130 CrMo steel and comes with a 1 1/8″ lugged CrMo fork, Shimano 105 components, TRP Spyre mechanical disc brakes, polished aluminum fenders, and several mounting points for racks. The special edition version is black and features a copper plated fork, hand-numbered copper badge, Brooks Swift anniversary edition saddle with copper rivets and rails, and Brooks leather bar tape. Built and assembled by hand by Pelago, the bike will be made in just 15 numbered units and will be available on the brand’s website at a starting price of $2,495.
