View all 9 Photos

The winner of the 2014 Public Library of the Year Award is the Craigieburn Library in Hume City, Victoria, in Australia. Designed by Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp, the modern library makes use of wooden slats and open space in a way that is innovative and inviting to the community.

Celebrating architecture and reading, the award is part of the Model Programme for Public Libraries project, an initiative started by the Danish Agency for Culture. Sponsored by the Danish architecture firm “schmidt hammer lassen architects,” the award accepts international nominations from premier libraries across the globe.
