Below the Boat, Handcrafted Bathymetric Charts

View all 8 Photos

The peaceful lapping of waves against our wooden boat leads me in to dreams beneath my wide brimmed sun hat. Out here on the water I surrender to nothing accept the current and regular naps. There is no lawn that needs mowed out here, I don’t have to put up with the neighbor’s barking dogs. It’s time for reading, time for sun bathing, time for me.
A mysterious world of depths untold and hidden valleys camouflaged by ripples in the waters exists just below my heaven on earth. Beautifully hand crafted out of wood, these topographic maps called Below the Boat expose just that. They highlight prominent locations such as Nantucket, Long Island Sound, the San Francisco Bay. Each piece is carefully assembled a one detailed layer of wood at a time until the entire frame is full, then it is gorgeously hand painted with old world finesse.
