A creative magazine holder that doubles as decorative object.

Created by Layer Design studio founder Benjamin Hubert for Fritz Hansen, Basket offers a creative twist on the magazine holder concept. The design displays the refined style of the British industrial designer. At the same time, it explores the Danish brand’s mid-century modern and Nordic design sensibilities. Simple and creative, the practical basket also doubles as a decorative object. The silhouette explores Scandinavian minimalism as well as classic materiality and feminine forms. Elegant curves, feminine shapes, and clean lines complement the basket’s functionality.

Featuring the Danish company’s steam-bending techniques, the piece boasts a curved solid wood handle. Its size and curvature allows the user to easily carry Basket from one room to another. Extending to puncture the shell, the handle also doubles as a support to enable the basket to stand on the floor or a table. The basket features a rounded shell made from pressure molded veneer, providing a stylish way to store various items. It’s perfect for magazines, newspapers, books, accessories, or even smaller cushions. Originally launched at the Milan Furniture Fair, Basket is now available to buy on the Fritz Hansen website in ash and lacquered ash versions. Photographs© Fritz Hansen.
