Eco-friendly felt shoes to keep you warm this winter.

Portuguese brand AsPortuguesas makes footwear and felt shoes with a focus on sustainability and comfort. Eco-friendly materials and manufacturing systems contribute to the brand’s impressively negative carbon footprint. By using cork and rubber outsoles, the brand ensures that these shoes are comfortable yet also kind to the environment. Since Portugal is the world’s largest cork producer, AsPortuguesas can keep the manufacturing process local.

Cork is 100% natural and it’s also a renewable material that doesn’t require the cutting of the tree. Instead, skilled workers cut sections of the bark and then allow it to heal and regrow for nine years. More than just an eco-friendly material, cork is also super comfortable and durable. It contains more than 50% air, which means that cork outsoles are lightweight and have a low density. At the same time, the cellular structure of the material allows cork to compress and then return to its original shape, providing shock absorption and reducing pressure. Highly resistant to wear, cork outsoles are good insulators, don’t absorb dust and make cleaning easy, and are also impermeable to liquids and gases to last longer and age gracefully.

The AsPortuguesas Fall/Winter felt shoes range includes boots with Velcro closures and a structured design, slip-on boots, round top shoes, and mules for indoor use. All of them feature felt uppers that feel soft as well as extra-warm to keep the wearer cozy and snug in colder weather conditions. Color options range from Gray and Black to Brown, Purple, Red, or Green. The packaging follows the brand eco-friendly stance and features minimal ink as well as recycled and recyclable materials.
