The Ashi Fireplace Tools

View all 9 Photos

A set of elegant and practical tools for modern fireplaces.

Wood-burning stoves, fire pits, and modern fireplaces can transform any indoor or outdoor area into a cozy living space that reminds of a mountain cabin. Having the right accessories is also important, for functional as well as aesthetic reasons. Designed by the Cologne-based Kaschkasch studio for Blomus, the Ashi series provides a complete set of fireplace tools to make the most of a stove and bring more contemporary style into a room. The collection draws inspiration from the reeds that grow around shallow ponds and lakes.

Minimalist and elegant, the tools feature slender shapes that remind of the hollow reed stem. At the top, the rounded handles correspond to the plants’ easily recognizable brown spadix. The studio also designed the wooden handles with built-in magnets; this way, the user can easily place the tools securely on the stand when not in use. Crafted to last, the Ashi set is made from black powder-coated steel and oak wood. The collection comprises a stand with a round base, a poker, tongs, and a shovel with a brush. A basket for wood logs completes the set. The Ashi fireplace tools come in two versions: with natural brown handles or black handles that match the finish of the metal. Customers can also choose between 3-piece or 5-piece sets, with the basket available separately. Photographs© Thomas Wiuf.
