An exclusive, limited-edition watch that pays homage to a vintage doctor’s chronograph.
Swiss brand Angelus has been making high-end timepieces since 1891 using both in-house developed movements and components of exceptional quality. Over the years, the company has created a stunning collection of gorgeous watches that seamlessly blend vintage watchmaking and contemporary design. The Angelus line comprises multi-complication watches and state-of-the-art chronographs as well as alarm clocks and multi-display travel clocks. To mark the launch of the new La Fabrique collection, the brand has partnered with Massena Lab. The collaboration has led to the creation of a refined, highly specialized watch: the Chronographe Médical.
Inspired by Angelus’ 1960s doctor’s watch, this wristwatch has a similar dial with scales for reading the heart rate and respiratory rate of patients. To ensure more legibility, the brand has enlarged the case from 37 to 39 mm. Designed as a Base 10 scale, the pulsometer uses red, black and green colors to show readings according to severity. Nestled inside the minute markers, the Base 5 asthmometer scale has a red color, with an arrow pointing to the reading. The dial’s design and size make both scales extra clear and easy to use.
As for the movement, the watch impresses with a specific version of the A5000 caliber, hand-wound monopusher movement, also used in the iconic CPCP Cartier Tortue Monopussoir watch. This variant features an integrated column wheel, a horizontal clutch and a mushroom-shaped pusher at the 2 o’clock mark. Apart from hours and minutes, functions also include small seconds at 9 o’clock. Made of stainless steel, the case has a domed, silvered opaline dial with rhodium-finish appliqué indexes. The hour markers glow in low-lighting conditions thanks to a Super-LumiNova coating. Finally, the golden brown Novonappa® calfskin strap features hand-stitching in an ecru hue.
