Amangiri

Surrounded by mountain ridges, plateaus and dunes, the Amangiri resort and spa is an oasis of calm and provides a peaceful hideaway in the middle of the canyons of the American Southwest. Located in a protected valley in Canyon Point, Utah, the contemporary resort is designed to pay homage to nature and complement the rugged environment with clean geometric shapes and light natural colors.

The retreat was designed by Marwan Al-Sayed, Wendell Burnette and Rick Joy, three well-known architects who collaborated to bring the 34 room hotel to life, and the result is spectacular. Amangiri means “peaceful mountain”, which is a fitting name for a resort that incorporates the landscape into its design and celebrates the beauty of the canyons. The concrete walls are slightly slanted to maximize the incredible views which stretch across the desert and towards the horizon. Guests can stay in one of the suites that offer access to a spacious terrace, fireplace and outdoor lounge, in suites with private pools and roof terraces, or in the private four bedroom home with an infinity pool, located minutes away from the hotel. The public areas include a restaurant featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, a large lounge with fireplaces, a 25,000 square feet spa, and an asymmetric outdoor pool that curves around a sandstone butte. Pale yellow, ochre, pink and cream tones are used throughout the retreat to mirror the ever-changing color palette of the landscape, making Amangiri look like a modern interpretation of the surrounding cliffs.
