Bold, modern and unusual Christmas ornaments that bring together religious, cultural and artistic motifs in sculptural objects.

Award-winning Italian designer and artist Elena Salmistraro explores many themes in her work, including concepts inspired by nature, culture, religion, mythology, and traditions from all over the world. However, regardless of subject, medium, or function, all of her designs have one thing in common: they look like art pieces. Salmistraro has also mastered the use of color and eclectic forms, resulting in distinctive objects that make the border between art and design simply disappear. This also applies to her Holyhedrics range designed for the Alessi Christmas ornaments collection. Similarly to her previous work, these unusual Christmas ornaments are bold and vibrant as well as unconventional.

The name of the collection is a play on two words, “holy” and “polyhedron”, explaining the range’s concept. While the former refers to the religious themes explored in the Holyhedrics range, the latter points to the objects’ angular and multi-faceted forms. If you’re looking for unusual Alessi Christmas ornaments for sale to celebrate the festive season this year, this collection offers the perfect solution to showcase your love of contemporary design. Elena Salmistraro intentionally created the porcelain pieces with angular, almost brutalist silhouettes that reimagine religious figures as sculptures and art objects. The range comprises Mary, Joseph and Jesus figurines as well as a cow and a donkey. Additionally, a matching mug, bowl and a plate offer a great way to set up a spectacular dining table.

Eye-catching pixel-style patterns and motifs that reference different traditions.

Vibrantly colored, these unusual Alessi Christmas ornaments double as decorative accents throughout the year, not just during the festive season. Each figurine features the collection’s signature pattern that references North and South American decorative motifs as well as pixel art, religious iconography, and sacred objects. And the result? Striking porcelain sculptures that look gorgeous, even on their own. Together, they tell the story of the Nativity, but with a twist. By bringing together all these influences and concepts, the designer has successfully translated the festive celebrations into a global language. Furthermore, these Alessi Christmas ornaments look like artworks are are the perfect as a gift.

Every object from the series features a multicolored pixel-style motif with shades of red, blue, yellow, and green. Golden accents give a nod to the sacred nature of the central theme. Hand-decorated with care, the Holyhedrics ornaments invite you to come closer, take them into your hand and admire their artistry. More than just festive decorations, they explore deeper themes of unity, coexistence, and shared traditions. These unusual Christmas ornaments for sale are available now in the Gessato Design Store.
