The Aera P-1 Pilot Watch

A contemporary take on the classic pilot watch.

British watch brand Aera explores timeless aesthetics with a “less is more” design approach. Inspired by classic tool watches, all Aera timepieces provide a balanced blend of form and function in honest, simple designs that are also crafted with top quality Swiss parts. The Aera P-1 Pilot watch keeps the clear dial design of vintage pilot watches, but add its own contemporary twist. Similarly to the way the classic pilot watch had an optimized dial to help serve as a navigating tool, this enhances function and visibility. It comes with a Swiss-made, brushed stainless steel case that measures 43mm. The case boasts a domed sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating and a sloping matte ceramic bezel.

Made with a screw-down crown, the watch offers water resistance up to 100 meters or 10 bar. The one-piece dial has a black finish, oversized markings and high-visibility white Arabic numerals. A Super LumiNova® coating on the three hands enhances legibility further. Inside the case, there’s a Swiss Sellita SW200-1 movement with 26 jewels and a 38-hour power reserve. The watch comes with a Jet Black Pebble Leather and a limited-edition Smoke Gray Suede strap, but customers can also add a third strap for free. You can find the Aera P-1 Pilot on the brand’s website at a price of £1,100 or around $1,300. Photography © Aera.
