An elegant chair designed with acoustics in mind.
Originally commissioned for the second concert hall at Casa da Música in Porto, Portugal, the ADAGIO chair needed to fulfill several requirements. Apart from an elegant style, the chair also had to combine excellent acoustics and a comfortable design with function. Designed by Pedro Sottomayor, ADAGIO blends all of these features in a minimalist design. The refined silhouette looks at home in the stylish space of the concert hall. The design also works well within this musical space, as it has the ideal acoustics for the setting. At the same time, the soft lines seem to embrace the user to enhance comfort.
Manufactured by furniture brand Nautilus after two years of research and testing, the chair features a recyclable shell with a thermoformed fabric and a stainless steel frame. The design allows the user to stack the chairs and minimize storage space and also make transportation easier. Thanks to an ingenious integrated connecting system, the chairs can form different compositions or curved layouts for amphitheaters. Available soon for living spaces and offices, the ADAGIO chair will feature a felt fabric. Textured but soft to the touch, this tactile material enhances the minimalist chair design further.
