Just an hour drive from Lisbon, Portugal and a short distance away from the popular Comporta area you can find a beautiful retreat that offers guests a stylish home away from home in a picturesque landscape. The Alentejo Beach House is perched on top of a hill, surrounded by olive, orange, and lemon trees. The view is stunning, as guests can enjoy the sight of the sunset over the ocean as well as rolling hills and a large area of green forests, located in between the house and the beach. The entire resort has been designed by renowned architect Manuel Aires Mateus, hired by the two owners to create their dream vacation house they could rent throughout the year but also enjoy with family and friends. Four separate structures provide sleeping spaces for up to eight people, in three bungalows with a bedroom each and in the main building, which houses the lounge area, kitchen, and the fourth bedroom. A heated swimming pool stretches towards the ocean, a patch of blue on the green backdrop of lush vegetation. The decking space is ideal for sunbathing and relaxing. An outdoor lounge space is specifically designed to give the impression of being both inside and in the middle of nature, thanks to wooden floors, concrete walls, and an open ceiling. The design of the retreat takes inspiration from the traditional houses found on the Alentejo coast, blended with contemporary minimalism. Benched concrete walls and wooden floors are complemented by white paint, while vintage and modern pieces of furniture appear throughout the interior. Beautiful pristine beaches are only 15 minutes away, but with such a fantastic accommodation, guests may very well forget that. Images courtesy of Manuel Aires Mateus.
