The Nucleus Mirror by Zieta

A stainless steel mirror that looks like an art installation.

For this year’s Milan Design Week, Polish designer Oskar Zieta, founder of the Zieta studio, created a new collection of innovative designs that not only defy stereotypes, but also enter the realm of contemporary art. At the center of the collection, the Nucleus Mirror re-imagines the archetype of a standard mirror. Looking more like an artwork, the striking object features polished steel elements brought together in a round shape.

The pieces of metal boast a special coating that gives the surface a gradient finish. While this treatment gives the material depth, it also creates a play of light and color across the surface. Depending on the viewing angle, one can admire sapphire as well as emerald colors, with more shades in between. The large-scale object has an imposing presence, creating a focal point in any space.

To make Nucleus, Zieta used the FiDU technology. This technique inflates sheets of metal into three-dimensional objects that have a distinctive, inflated balloon-like shape. Polished to a mirror finish, the surface reflects the surroundings and distorts them slightly to give them a dream-like feel. Apart from the Nucleus Mirror, the design studio will also launch new colors from the Gradient series as well as the new G-Table, the Tafla mirror collection, and the Crystals Table. Zieta will present the Nucleus Mirror and the new designs at the “Furniture of Disorder” exhibition during Milan Design Week, in hall 6, stand E33. This year, the event runs from April 9 to April 14.
