The Gota Sustainable Lamp Family

View all 8 Photos

A lamp collection designed with sustainability in mind.

Created in a collaboration between Brussels-based OGSB Studio and Ateliers J&J, the Gota lamps blend minimalist design with function and eco-friendly materials. The line includes a table and a floor lamp, both featuring the same simple, understated aesthetic. Crafted from recycled aluminum, the two LED lamps already have an eco-friendly build. However, the studios pushed the sustainable design further. Using a single material and a mono-color finish, the teams ensured that the user can easily recycle the lamps at the end of their life cycle. Colors include Matte Black, Matte Light Gray, Satin Oil Blue, and Satin Olive Green as well as Anodized Aluminum. In a world of mass production and consumption, the Gota line aims to put the focus back on quality.

The lamps also feature removable components for easy parts replacement, if needed. Finally, the designers collaborated with local manufacturers to bring the line to life. As practical as they are green, the LED lamps have a mobile lampshade and support. The user can direct the light with the lampshade and also angle the lamp’s arm as needed towards the room, a desk, or a reading area. The two studios presented the first prototypes at an exhibition in Paris in June 2018. The Gota collection will also make an appearance at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair in February 2019.
