Vincent Dubourg | Vortex At Carpenters Workshop Gallery

Fascinated about the relationship between nature and man, Vincent Dubourg creates dynamic and poetic artworks. His metallic sculptures explore the concept of metamorphosis and deconstruction in a creative way. And now art lovers can see them up close in NYC. Vortex, Dubourg’s first solo exhibition in the US, opens at Carpenters Workshop Gallery. The exhibit includes several pieces of deconstructed furniture, all made in the artist’s workshop in Creuse, France. Featuring a creative exploration of the passage of time as well as an organic character, the sculptures captivate the viewer.

The exhibition has a deeper meaning apart from its exploration of form and movement. In the artist’s own words, “A vortex whirls in a circular motion, it forms a vacuum, and embodies subjects to its action. In water it swirls but what happens beneath the water’s surface is hidden until it resurfaces elsewhere. If it explodes then it reconstructs, and what is absorbed into it is taken to another place. The idea behind Vortex is to take society, engulf it in a vortex and take it to a new planet and other ways of living.” The exhibition opens on 2 November and closes on 23 December.
