Located in Oberaudorf, a quaint spot in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, a narrow house gives renters a delightful anchor from which they can explore the wonders of the surrounding nature. Known as Gut Feeling, the home designed by Arnhard und Eck Architekten lives up to its odd name by stirring within you an instinctual knowledge of tranquility and peace. Offered through Welcome Beyond, the home is available for rent year-round, giving travelers a constantly changing, but always uplifting experience. In the winter and fall, the home offers all the amenities one needs to comfortably reflect on the falling leaves or snow outside, with a freshly modern interior design scheme set out over three levels. And best of all, despite its modest square footage, this scheme proves that living in small places doesn’t have to be synonymous with sacrificing functionality and comfort. The home includes a dedicated kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom and bathroom as well as a freestanding tub and a flexible space that renters can use as an additional bedroom or as a den. When the weather is fairer, two elevated terraces intersecting the lower level can be fully opened up, giving the space a wider feeling while also providing calming views on every side. When the weather is especially nice in the spring and summer, the home’s pristine location gives travellers access to Germany, Austria, and even Northern Italy, with cities such as Munich or Salzburg a perfect day trip away. For energetically minded folks, the immediate area has spots that are ideal for hiking, biking, and skiing in the winter, with a diverse arrangement of flora and fauna. So whether you’re a city explorer, an outdoorsman, or are just looking for an exotic location to relax in, this narrow home will stir up a good feeling in your gut. Images © Florian Holzherr
