The Mystery of White Balloons

View all 7 Photos

“Invasions” is a surreal series of installations designed and photographed by the French artist Charles Pétillon. In this evocative collection, Pétillon inserts tumorous white balloons into empty spaces such as a golf course, a suburban home, a basketball court, and a junked car. He inflates the balloons off-site, transports them in what must be one interesting ride, and then incorporates them into the chosen scene with hidden aluminum frames. Giving everyday places and objects a touch of the bizarre, Pétillon lets the isolated balloons bring mystery to used and abandoned corners of society.

“Invasions” is currently on show at La Maison de la Photographie in Lille, France, where the work can be seen until March 22nd, 2015. Prints are available from Trouble Management, catalogue and price list upon request.
