Soon all the glitz and glamour will come pouring out of limos wearing jaw dropping carrots in diamonds on one strand of jewelry. Eyes cling to the television set, our icons grace the screen. And down on Hollywood Blvd barricades will line the star studded sidewalks, keeping wild crowds at bay, police bare the California heat in their uniforms, movie stars stop to give fans a wave.
Roll out the red carpet because Oscar has arrived dressed as the Best Picture since 1927. This creative poster by Olly Moss displays 85 awards designed as characters from that year’s prize film. “The Artist” won the final title featured for 2011 and 2012. It happens to be the only silent film recipient since the very first winner “Wings” in 1927 and 1928. Some trophies are barely changed, just a sprinkle of rose petals over “American Beauty” of 1999; others are completely over hulled like “Schindler’s List” which depicts the little girl in the red coat, only one of four colored images in the 3 hour show. It’s a thrilling compilation of amazing acting, directing, writing. A walk down memory lane familiar and special for movie lovers everywhere.
