After the successful launch of the 4th Dimension timepiece in 2015, Taipei-based 22 Design Studio improves upon the original concept with its automatic concrete watch version. And we’re happy to give you a first glimpse at the design, before its official launch later this October. The 4D Concrete Watch Automatic takes inspiration from modern urban architecture, blending time and space in a creative and distinctive design. The dial boasts the brand’s signature spiral staircase mold. Made with a special 22™ concrete mix which cures for 14 days and sets in slightly different ways from one watch to another, every timepiece is one of a kind. The date window, reminiscent of an atrium, connects the space below and above the dial. It also allows the wearer to get a glimpse at yesterday’s date and at the one approaching, putting time in a different perspective.
Featuring a burnished brass case, the timepiece will develop a patina as well as lines and textures over time, becoming truly unique. A stainless steel case version is also available. The watch comes with innovative suspended hands – another signature design of the studio – and a Swiss-made Sellita SW200 movement with a 38-hour power reserve.
Set to make its debut in October 2017 on Kickstarter, the 4D Concrete Watch Automatic will be available in two versions. Signature and Minimal both come with burnished brass or stainless steel cases and matching Italian leather straps in gray and brown. The former boasts a minute scale on the dial and a polished case as well as a magnifying lens for the date window. The latter has a minimalist aesthetic, a concrete tube date window, and a matte case finish. If you want to be one of the first to get one of the timepieces at an early-bird discount, head over to the studio’s website to sign up for the offer. We’ll also keep an eye on the project and keep you updated on any new info about this gorgeous automatic concrete watch. Buy here
