Transforming an icon into a jewel.
When Porsche enthusiast Scott Blattner commissioned Singer Vehicle Design to enhance his 1990 Porsche 964 with lightweighting and high-performance modifications, the company took the request to another level. Partnering with Williams Advanced Engineering, Singer undertook a Dynamics and Lightweighting Study, or “DLS”, in order to develop a new range of restoration and customization services for Porsche cars. The study included input from various companies such as Michelin, Brembo, and BBS Motorsport, as well as advice from racing driver driver Marino Franchitti and Porsche experts Norbert Singer and Hans Mezger. And the result? A stunning, one-of-a-kind car that blends classic style with state-of-the-art technology.
The modified 1990 Porsche 964 features a four-valve, air-cooled flat-six engine that produces 500-hp, an improved suspension with enhanced geometry, as well as a combination of carbon fiber, magnesium, and titanium materials to get the weight of the vehicle to an impressive 2180 lbs. Other details include bespoke Michelin tires, a 6-speed magnesium transmission from Hewland, and custom EXE-TC damping. The car also boasts a new look. The exterior features a unique absinthe green color complemented by orange accents, while the cabin oozes style with blood orange leather upholstery. Starting from November 14th 2017, the companies plan to produce up to 75 custom Porsche 964 cars in the UK, for 75 automotive enthusiasts, collectors, and Porsche lovers. Or ‘the lucky ones’, as we call them. Photographs© Singer Vehicle Design.
