Age-old principles of fine craft and good design translate fluidly between various products and fields. Utilizing the same process that gave Presot – a company that has been making high-quality soles for top Italian designers since 1933 – Bartoli Design has applied traditional technique in a modern context that honors authenticity and the art of making things to stand the test of time. Built with wooden legs, a metal frame, and a genius leather seat secured at the back with a nautical tie-rod device to maintain tension, the 1085 Edition communicates a deep respect for time-honored Italian craftsmanship in a striking form. The choice of material is essential in the eyes of the designers as a tangible transition between past and future; each 1085 chair develops its own unique character over time in accordance with its environment and users, “preserving its functionality and performance over time.” Visible stitching connects the seat and back in a subtle nod to Presot’s experience in the world of haute couture. Created for design company Kristalia, the handsome piece is advertised for its modern day innovation: imperfection. The 1085 embodies both genuine Italian craft and classic style in an elegant, functional form that is sure to last a lifetime.  Read more in Kristalia’s recent news release.
