Philippe Malouin

London, United Kingdom

Philippe Malouin was born in Canada. He studied at University of Montreal before going to Paris to attend École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle and then to the Netherlands, where he got a bachelor’s degree in design from the Design Academy Eindhoven. After moving to London and working with English designer Tom Dixon, Philippe Malouin opened his own studio in 2009. His designs, whether they’re pendant light, chairs, tables, or rugs, blend artistic flair and minimalism. Full of character, the products also explore the tactile qualities of natural materials and geometric shapes. The studio’s portfolio includes projects completed for companies like Marsotto Edizioni, OTHR, Kvadrat, Umbra Shift, Swarovski, Bloomberg, or Aesop, among many others. So far, Philippe Malouin has won the Wallpaper ‘Best Use of Material’ Award and the W Hotels ‘Designer of the Future’ Award.
