Based in Barcelona, Nua Bikes is a young brand drawings its namesake from the Catalan word for “nude.” Their minimalist first design, the the SC-01, is a commuter by the all-around creative engineer Roberto Aznar. The bicycle is built around a titanium frame and flat handlebars and outfitted with details such as a vegetable-tanned leather Brooks saddle and grips. The bike also borrows from the world of motorcycles, adopting a belt drive, an increasingly popular component which makes the ride lighter, cleaner, and quieter. Furthermore, Aznar’s design is customizable with eyelets for mudguards and racks and compatibility with tire sizes of up to 47mm. Nua is accepting pre-orders on the SC-01 until January 31, 2015, and prices start at €2495.
