Hide away to a place where no one else matters. Independent from society, surviving by techniques long tossed as unnecessary, inconvenient, time eaters. It’s a place to clear your head, to be intimate with the one you love, distractions limited to falling snowflakes or the passing wildlife.

The Scott & Scott Architects Alpine Cabin braces itself for the expected 50 feet of snow a year. What appears to be a humble self sufficient profile in weathered cedar is actually quite eloquent on the inside. Fixed in Vancouver this log home is constructed of local lumber, enhanced with rich wall to ceiling and all floors in hard wood. Decorated with rustic furnishings, though minimal, call for a glass of wine while sitting around the front and center wood stove. Simple cubbies to store cords for the fire squeeze between a few hooks for coats and the doorway. A cushioned bench fills the corner pointing you in the direction of the great window framing snow covered pines. Time to let go of your world, and to hold onto nothing but nature and fresh powder.

I find a way to fearlessly provoke your senses and take you by the heart to whatever it is I’m writing about. My sweet spot is creative writing, but for the last 20 years I have been providing freelance content for publications on sustainability and green practices, design, architecture, fashion, and non-profit charity. Recently all wrapped up in producing my first book. I have bounced from NYC to Indianapolis, but my true home is a lovely small town in Central Pennsylvania where there’s a legit drive-your-tractor-to-school-day.
